Trails Introduction In the fall of 1977, the founding members of the Scarborough Land Conservation Trust set out to acquire and protect the town's sensitive and undeveloped land. The Articles of Agreement signed on that day included the following mission: "to demonstrate and teach the necessity of preserving our natural heritage by conservation and limitation of development; and to save enough of the land in its untouched state so that future generations may enjoy the town as we do." One outcome of this general mission has been the Trust’s commitment to public access via trails. The Libby River Farm, Sewell Woods and Fuller Farm are three parcels where the public can enjoy passive recreation. Locals as well as those from away can enjoy a wide variety of habitats in Scarborough. Passive recreation has slowly become a national passtime due to the appeal to young and old. Whether out for an afternoon run or an early morning bird watch, the Land Trust provides a well managed trail system which can be used in perpetuity. |
