Communications
This committee will work to develop a calendar of events
and a timetable that shows the publicity schedule for all upcoming events.
This may include television, radio and newsprint media, as well as
Scarborough’s local cable community channel. The group will work and
coordinate their needs with the Chambers’ communications manager. A
representative of this committee should serve on the Regional
Communications Committee as a liaison to the Regional
committee.
Community/Government Affairs
This committee follows local issues of concern to the
business community in the following areas: Infrastructure, Public Policy,
and Growth & Services. Representatives of this committee should attend
public meetings as needed and report back to the Board of Directors on
issues of concern to the business community. A representative of this
committee should serve on the Regional Public Policy & Legislative
Affairs committee as a liaison to the Regional committee.
Events
This committee organizes and oversees Candidates Night,
Small Business Week, the Summer Concert Series, the Summerfest booth and
any other activities designated by the Board of Directors. The Events
committee is responsible for getting all information to the Communications
committee in a timely fashion (at least two months in advance of each
event) so that the event can be effectively promoted and
publicized.
Membership
This committee organizes and oversees the Membership
Drive, Member Appreciation Day and New Member recognition. The Membership
committee is responsible for getting all information to the Communications
committee in a timely fashion (at least two months in advance of each
event) so that the event can be effectively promoted and publicized. The
group will work and coordinate their needs with the Chambers’ membership
staff and provide names of potential new members to staff.
Policy/Process
This committee reviews policies and processes of the
Chamber of Commerce.
Program
This committee is responsible for Membership Meeting
speakers and a thank you gift for them. The Program committee is
responsible for getting all information to the Communications committee in
a timely fashion (at least two months in advance of each event) so that
the event can be effectively promoted and publicized.
