SCRIP is not just for holiday shoppingit can make your life easier year round. There are no hidden costs you receive dollar for dollar gift cards or certificates to dozens of businesses you normally frequent.

SCRIP is a great way to earn money for our band programs. Imagine, if successful, it could completely eliminate ALL other fundraisers!

As with any new endeavor, we have learned a few things to make things more efficient. We are now involved with New England Scrip http://www.newenglandscrip.com/ . In the very near future, we will be working with an additional, very organized SCRIP provider -this gives us many more business options from which to choose!

SCRIP programs earn some organizations tens of thousands of dollars each year! It is really big in the Midwest where some organizations literally make more than $100,000.00/ year! That's right- count those zeroes! New England is just beginning to catch the waveso come on and give it a try

Imagine

  • Oh-oh, you forgot your mother-in law's birthday? How about a gift card to Borders or Macy's ? We then get 6-7 % of your card purchase kicked back to the band program!
  • Or need a new washing machine- get it at SEARS and we get 3% back!
  • Young child's birthday: Toys R Us gift card (2%) - perfect!
  • Need some sporting equipment: Dick's Sporting Goods cards(7%)- so easy
  • Teacher appreciation: Try Dunkin' Donuts gift certificates(3%)- sweet!
  • Take a friend to lunch at Chili's ( 6%)or Olive Garden (7%)yummy
  • Weekly grocery shopping is so simple with Shaw's cards(3%) !
  • For big jobs-how about that kitchen update you've been planningpay for it with gift cards to Home Depot(2%) or Lowe's (2%).
  • Have a kid in college? Many book stores honor Barnes & Nobles cards( 7%)
  • Look for monthly specials. For instance, in March L.L.Bean has increased their kick back to us from 10% to 14%!

WHAT IS SCRIP? The following information is from www.scrip.net :

Scrip is a paper certificate or card used as a substitute for money in exchange for goods or services such as gas, groceries, hotels, airfare and entertainment. More and more nonprofits and schools nationwide are using scrip programs to successfully raise money year-round.

Here's how it works:

    1. Scrip is purchased from local and national merchants in bulk, at a discount. Merchants offer the discount because it's a convenient way for them to retain business and secure new customers.
    2. Nonprofit organizations and schools sell scrip to supporters for full face value.
    3. Supporters use scrip to pay for goods and services they would routinely buywithout paying any additional monies for their purchases.

The organization is able to raise funds by keeping the difference between the discount price at which it bought the scrip and the full face value at which it sold the scrip to supporters.
