Guest Conductor Scarborough High School 's band director, Renee Richardson and Dr. Andrew Boysen, from the University of New Hampshire , recently collaborated on a special program for all of the Scarborough High School band students on March 20 and 21, 2006. The Guest Conductor in Residence is an exciting two–day opportunity sponsored annually by the Scarborough Band Boosters, which culminated with a dynamic concert on Tuesday, March 21. A very unique component of this particular residency was that all three Scarborough High School bands performed pieces composed and conducted by Dr. Boysen. It is not often that students have the opportunity to work with a composer, and it was a very exciting opportunity for the students to work with a musician as both conductor and composer. Dr. Boysen, a nationally known guest conductor, will be conducting the Maine All State Concert Band this spring. We were most fortunate to have him working with our bands. The Band Boosters wish to thank all of the many parents that continually support the booster effort, and to Renee Richardson for her steadfast dedication to band program. Jazz Nights are coming! For a great night of jazz, the public is invited to attend the annual cabaret-style event. The candlelit concerts will be presented on Tuesday, April 4, and Wed., April 5, 2006 at 7:00p.m. at the Scarborough Middle School cafeteria. The Scarborough Jazz Ensemble, Scarborough Jazz Combo, Scarborough Jazz Band, and the Scarborough Middle School Jazz Band will each perform. Tickets are available at the door. Seating is limited.
