Celebrate With Us

Gervais Property Added to
Scarborough Marsh
Wildlife Management Area!

Please join Friends of Scarborough Marsh and the Scarborough Land Conservation Trust for a celebration marking the acquisition and conservation of the 46-acre Gervais Property.

Wednesday, October 21st
2 p.m.

Gervais Property
53 Manson Libby Road, Scarborough

(located 1/2 mile off of Route 1 in Scarborough's Industrial Park)

Representatives from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife, Land for Maine's Future Program, and Tom Hall, Scarborough's Town Manager will join other project partners in celebrating this latest addition to the Scarborough Marsh Wildlife Management Area.

Project partners will give short speeches and tours of the property. This celebration event is free and open to the public! Refreshments will be served.

"It's been a long journey bringing this project to fruition," said C.D. Armstrong, president of the Friends of Scarborough Marsh. "I take my hat off to the Gervais family for having the patience and vision to work with us to conserve their land. The major funding partners are to be saluted for their commitments, as well as the many volunteers and donors who made this project happen. Ultimately, the big winners are our kids and future generations who will have this land to enjoy in perpetuity."

We can share success stories like this one -
thanks to you!!

FoSM would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to all who have supported the annual Dinner & Auction - proceeds from our highly successful fundraiser contribute to an existing fund dedicated to conserving and protecting the "critical edge."

This 250-500 feet of land that is the upland edge of the marsh is continuously threatened by signficant development pressure and is vital to the overall health of the Scarborough Marsh. Monies from this fund were used in conjunction with this aquisition.

You can help FOSM prepare for future protects.

Donations to FoSM's land conservation fund can be sent to us at the address below or give online via Network for Good.

Or attend this year's fundraiser on November 7th!

And please remember to lend your support at the polls for Scarborough's Parks & Conservation Land Bond and the Land for Maine's Future program!
